Your Career Portfolio

Students from Year 9 – 13 can access their career portfolio on the school’s new career management system HERE Different Year Levels have different pages unlocked and the more information you can input as you progress through school the better. Career management is a lifelong process and we start exploring ideas and making decisions from secondary school to retirement. Examples of these decisions could be subject choices, getting after school work, taking leadership responsibilities, leaving school early or applying for personal development opportunities.

NZ Workers Rights

Last Wednesday the 17th June MAC hosted the Young Workers Resource Centre to deliver some essential information to senior students about pre-employment skills, industrial relations and human rights in the workplace. The students who came to this reported that Tony gave excellent information and advice for life after school.

Year 13 and School Leavers

All Year 13s have the opportunity for at least one career interview with us. Please email careers@mtaspiring.school.nz if you wish to speed up the process! If you are planning on leaving school soon or at the end of Year 12 we strongly encourage you to make an appointment with Charlotte or Lana.

Students should have made a start on updating their CV. Please see http://careers.mtaspiring.edutronic.net/ for CV templates. If students are applying for scholarships or starting their  CV we suggest they start with a google doc. about themselves and their achievements with the following headings:

  • Academic
  • Cultural
  • Community
  • Sport
  • Leadership
  • Work Experiences

This is a starting point and is really helpful when you go to write a scholarship or accommodation application or to get you started with your CV.
